Founding WTF

Sally is the founder of Wellness Through Fortitude and in addition to her extensive education, she has lived experience as a mother of two with a beautiful autistic son, and own neurodivergence in the mix. Sally is a self-confessed hot mess, a little cheeky, and lives as a mum, wife, employee, family member and friend, trying to hold thing called life together. She appreciates the dark side of humour and personally and professionally lives with integrity and transparency, all laced together with lots of coffee and dry wit.

Diagnosed autistic at age 4, Sally's son has been supported by a wonderful team of therapists from around 3 years of age. Sally herself has worked as a Social Worker for a number of years across Government departments. So the initial rejection of early intervention with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) had Sally screaming WTF. Sally's personal and professional trajectory since has become being specialised in children and their caregivers are able to access services and linking in supports to ensure no child falls through the gaps.

Sid goes to Kitty Land was imagined and realised at a time where Sally and her son were ready to discuss and explore the autism diagnosis together. This has led to a second book, Sid's friend Belle, a cheeky adults book under the tag Nuggets, and further an activity book. Sally hopes these resources can open the door for positive affirming conversations around autism and therapy for other young children.
